Thank you so much for these wonderful comments! Praise is always nice, but what I like so much is how clearly you grasped what we are trying to do in terms of the seamless integration of groundwork and ridden work.
Also, one of the key areas of interest I think for people is how it progresses - one session in isolation might be useful in terms of how to work on a particular issue, but what is the next step? How do you complete the process and get to the end stage?
The young horse that was here for starting (sort of, not exactly a remedial starter but he'd encountered some problems), progressed brilliantly, such that on his last session he was hacking out with his rider on his own across the set aside and through the village. We will post his story up when things are a little less busy here!
If you were jealous about that hack with Sensi, you would have been utterly green the next day, when we went out for 4.5 hours to Cirencester Park and had the most amazing canters along seemingly endless tracks. Sensi, 24, was up for every canter and the 9 year old horse we were escorting rapidly ran out of steam!
Thanks again for your comments, Nicole and co.

Hi Kathryn

Thank you so much for these wonderful comments! isPermaLink="false">http://mw.cambraydesign.co.uk/?page_id=501#comment-17

I had an amazing day as a spectator earlier this week. It is such a treat to visit Moor Wood. What a beautiful place! (Do note though that you need to follow the directions carefully to find Moor Wood for the first time). I choose to be a spectator at least this first visit as I don’t own horse transport and haven’t yet taken my lad out and about as it were (Moor Wood being too far from home for a first journey). I wasn’t sure that he would settle away from home – now, I am sure he would (he probably wouldn’t want to leave!)
I will confess that I had initial doubts about going to visit Moor Wood – I didn’t want to be an imposition. I really didn’t need to have worried. I was made very welcome. As it says on the website – you really can learn so much as a spectator. I saw many varied issues being worked on.
There were 3 riders visiting Moor Wood this week. Each rider had 2 sessions, morning and afternoon. Each worked on whatever it was that was needed. All made some great progress in their sessions. The sessions included work settling a spooky horse, in-hand schooling, creating elevation (which led to one of riders working on shoulder in and experiencing piaffe for the first time) and one very lucky rider got to hack out with Nicole and Sensi – I had to work on containing my emotions (jealousy!) at this point. What a wonderful place to work on hacking issues. I also saw a livery being worked on longlines.
Nicole and Adam call their clinics groundwork/riding ? I saw a seamless integration of both. I have done the IH 5 day course and learnt join up, longlining ... Today I saw how these can be used in real life, to help and develop horses and their riders with different issues. I saw join up/follow up used to help a visiting horse settle to work in a scary, spooky part of the school. I also learnt about the work that had been done in the previous days and what would be worked on next with that horse and rider. This was so interesting. It’s important to see the whole picture. On the courses you learnt the process, this was putting all the skills/tools from the toolkit (if you’ve done the IH course you’ll know what I mean) into practice for best effect.
It was wonderful to meet the characters I had read about in Nicole and Adam’s books. It was especially wonderful to see Amber – and to see how far she has come. She was the horse who gave the rider her first experience of piaffe. The rider was thrilled – all this in a headcollar.
Marley and Layla are delightful. They kept everyone entertained. Marley was busy building castles and Layla cooking some carrots in the play house. All this to the background sounds of rock music – and Marley at one point on drums (he may only be 4 but already showing talent).
This achieved using ethical methods and as little pressure as possible – it works the results were obvious. All that is left for me to say is a huge thank you to everyone I met Nicole, Adam and family, Rachel, Jessica, the riders and of course the horses.

I had an amazing day as a spectator earlier this week. isPermaLink="false">http://mw.cambraydesign.co.uk/?page_id=443#comment-16

First can I start by saying a HUGE thank you for all you work and help today, he has never loaded like that before
In the 2 and a half years we have had him! It was amazing to watch… even if he did try to find ‘a way out’ at the
end, it was rectified!
You told me to send you me an email with what I though we had done and achieved today, well first I can say that we
I think we achieved a whole lot more today than we have ever achieved in a session of a few hours. I hope that the bond between
Foggy and I will be strengthened with more respect on both sides of the relationship. I think that the work we started out on,
just in the stable door really gave an example of in time what we will fully achieve in the trailer. And although, as you say today
we were about 50/60% today, I feel that you are right when you say that there is still room to improve. I speak for mum and I
when I say that we could not believe that by lunch time he was happily walking in and out, something mum and I have very rarely
been able to see. And although we had a hiccup (my fault… but it was bound to happen!) I have to say, I think I expected him to re-think
the trailer malarkey after a few hours. However, it was fabulous to see that you can work through that to achieve the results we did,
I think this is something that will help me on the ground and when I am sat on him too. I hope that we will soon be the owners of a dually
Head collar, as I think that he was a little blasé when It came to his opinion of his head collar, I hope to do a lot more groundwork with
Him aswell, I really enjoyed the whole experience.
Thank you SO much again,

I can't believe how much I've learnt in just a week... The week has benefited me in so many ways, its was a great opportunity to de-stress and unwind. Its really made me realise how lucky I am to have such a cracking fun pony.
Just got back from a lovely hack on Saucy we came across a herd of deer, so spent a while just watching them which was lovely. Tomorrow the plan is to ride her back to my house for tea!
A Huge thank you to all for making us both so welcome.
